Advent calendar day 1: Win the online course “Stop whistle”

In our advent calendar you’ll be able to win private online sessions with Elsa Blomster or Lena Gunnarsson, our book Retrieving for All Occasions” (printed and e-book), our study guides or one of our many online courses (without feedback)! There will be a new gift every day, but some might show up twice so don’t give up if you don’t win the first time.

Today’s gift is the online course “Stop whistle – without feedback” for you or a friend.

Do you want a rock solid stop whistle that works both in your every day life, on hunt tests and while hunting?

In this course we start from the beginning and you’ll get advice on playful exercises to start with to get the dog to understand the stop whistle. Then we move on to more difficult exercises to be able to stop the dog at a distance and with distractions, for example scent on the ground, thrown dummies or game running by. Finally you get to practice duration – the dog should be able to respond to several stop whistles (f ex when you need to cast and recast the dog many times) without getting tired.

Make a wish!

The only thing you need to do if you want to win today’s gift is to comment either in this blog post or on the post on our Facebook page and tell us why you want to win this gift! The winner will be announced two days later.

  1. My young dog will sometimes stop to a word but I want to train to whistle as he is going to be a working gundog. He just looks at me as if I’m daft! I need the help. His return to whistle is great but I’m stumped for the Stop. Help please.

  2. Karen McMillen

This one has been on my wish list for a long time. No matter what sport or discipline you practice, this one could save your dog’s life.
Everyone could use this training; I would just love it to be me.😊

  3. Joy Hickenlooper

My puppy would absolutely thrive with lessons like this! We’re always seeing the fastest improvement from her when we get her a class of any type. A whistle stop would definitely impress all her friends.

  4. Here in Tasmania, we have lots of wildlife such as Pademelons, and wallabies. It would be fantastic to be able to train a dog not to chase these shy and wonderful animals.

  5. Nadine Neethling

I’m very new to gundog training. I’ve had border collies for over 20 years, now I have a long dreamed of English Springer Spaniel and although I’m not new to dog training I feel like a complete beginner again as I’m new to gundogs, new to retrieving and could use any help I could get 🙂
